Sweet Inspiration
Baking and cooking is an art. It is full of inspiration, creativity, adventure, risks, triumphs, and times when we don’t exactly triumph, but are hopefully inspired to try again with more awareness… Sound familiar? This of course can be applied to a lot of other facets of life… I find that cooking is a gentle way to learn these lessons for the rest of my life!
About 2 weeks ago I had a morsel of inspiration. A friend had some ginger cookies that went stale and wanted to throw them away. They were no longer chewy, but they didn’t need to be thrown away just yet…so I said “What if we make them into a crust?” Well that was all I needed for the wheels to start turning…
What do I want to use the cookie crust for?
Ice Cream Cake! (I had never made one before.)
If the crust was going to be ginger cookie, what other flavors would I like to use?
I have been in love with NadaMoo! dairy free ice cream for a while now, so that was an obvious choice… I would go with the Coconut Flavor.
But what other layer would I like?
Fruit coulis.
It was coming together so nicely. Inspiration after inspiration… I was getting really excited. Taking my time to cultivate the strategy of how to make it. Finding the right time to put it all together. Enjoying the adventure if it all. It was a lot of fun!
The best part? That although it came out nothing like what I had envisioned, I had such a great time coming up with the ideas and getting excited over the creation process, that I wasn’t really bothered that it was not really what I had expected. My friends still enjoyed gathering around the results and sharing some time together, and I love knowing that I can improve the recipe for the future if I want…or just know that I had a lot of fun in the kitchen.
If anything, my next ice cream cake will be a mint chocolate chip version… Stay tuned
